Chania in season is a small city pretending to be a big one. The Venetian harbour holds ten thousand people on an August evening, the old town alleys behind it are wall-to-wall bars until four, and the hotels from Nea Chora to Platanias are full of visitors who will never be here again. That anonymity is the whole point for anyone searching for escorts in Chania. Nobody is watching, because everybody is a stranger.

Season changes everything
From May to October Chania has a floating population of workers, students and long-stay visitors, and the classified sites carry a real local supply for once, though a good part of it is seasonal and gone by November. Photos are the usual problem: a listing can show a woman who left the island six weeks ago while the number still answers. Outside the season, the city empties and every booking means someone travelling from Heraklion or Athens.
Where to stay
The resort hotels along the Agioi Apostoloi and Platanias coast are the simplest for a discreet evening: hundreds of rooms, guests arriving at all hours, nobody counting. In the old town the converted Venetian houses are beautiful and tiny; the Casa Delfino and the Ambassadors are run by people who know every guest by breakfast. Stay there as a couple who arrived together, not as a room expecting a visitor.
Bringing a companion over
Athens to Chania is fifty-five minutes in the air with several flights a day, and in summer there are direct flights from most of Europe as well. The usual booking is two or three nights on a day rate, with her flight quoted before you confirm. She arrives like every other visitor and the island sees a couple. Evenings in Chania
Eat away from the harbour front, which is priced for people who will not return. Tamam in the old Turkish baths, Thalassino Ageri at the water in Tabakaria for fish, or the Splantzia square tavernas where locals actually sit. The harbour bars are for the walk and one drink; the serious nightlife is in the alleys of Splantzia and along Sarpidona. In summer the beach clubs at Platanias run until dawn.
